Rooms
Each room at Harlington Manor is themed and named after historical figures or locations. The King Charles II room features a canopied bed and an en-suite bath with the largest bathtub guests have seen. The Tabor room offers garden views and an en-suite bathroom with both a bath and a shower, while the Wingate room has a four-poster bed with a comfortable mattress and pillows. No televisions are provided in any room, encouraging guests to explore the house's antiques and library instead. Beds are high and come with footstools to help guests climb into them.
Breakfast
Breakfast is cooked to order based on guests' preferences, communicated via text the night before. The menu includes a Bircher Muesli that has been praised as delicious, as well as a full English breakfast with high-quality ingredients. Meals are served in a grand dining room with antique furniture, porcelain teapots, and elegant tableware, and the host often engages guests in conversation during the meal.
Grounds and Gardens
The property features spacious, beautifully kept gardens that guests are welcome to enjoy. Sun loungers and umbrellas are available on the terrace for relaxing outdoors. The courtyard offers free private parking, and the house is set in a peaceful village location just off the M1 motorway.
Activities and Nearby Attractions
Guests can take part in on-site activities such as cycling, hiking, bowling, squash, and movie nights. Woburn Safari Park is 11 km away, and Ashridge Golf Club and the Chiltern Hills are within easy reach. The Carpenter's Arms pub, a 5-minute walk from the manor, serves food and has live music on some evenings.
Host and History
The host David is a knowledgeable historian who gives impromptu tours of the 600-year-old building, explaining its original features and antiques. The manor is filled with memorabilia, paintings, and period furniture that reflect centuries of history. Check-in is handled via detailed emailed instructions, and the host is available for conversation at breakfast and during the stay.
